Since the energy crisis and the debate about gas and heating legislation, district heating has been a major topic, even in private households. In Schweinfurt, district heating is currently being purchased on a large scale by industry, including for production. SKF, ZF and Schaeffler are the main consumers of district heating from Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Schweinfurt.Around 70% goes to them - the rest to Stadtwerke Schweinfurt, which uses it to supply private households and businesses. The GKS currently supplies between 300 and 370 GWh of district heating per year. But there is room for improvement. "The expansion of district heating in Schweinfurt will not fail because of the source," says GKS Managing Director Ragnar Warnecke.
