We are a thermal power plant operated by GKS-Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Schweinfurt GmbH based in Schweinfurt.
For more than 30 years, we have been reliably supplying our industrial partners and the Schweinfurt public utility company, and thus the citizens of the city of Schweinfurt, with the district heating we generate.
At the same time, in our waste incineration facility, we thermally recycle the residual waste from our municipal shareholders and thus ensure disposal safety for almost all of Lower Franconia.
In 1990 a coal power plant for combined heat and power (CHP) was built. A thermal waste treatment plant was integrated into the CHP-plant four years later.
GKS is certified as waste management plant and is EMAS certified, too. We have been a member of the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact since 2017.
