GKS-Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Schweinfurt GmbH operates a coal-fired power plant with an integrated waste incineration plant. The facilities essentially are located on the same site and are to be considered as one unit.
Overview of the facilities:
Main facilities:
Coal-fired Heat and Power Plant (= Coal Combustion Plant):
- 2 coal-fired steam boilers (each generating 70 t of steam per hour at 113 bar and 535 ° C) with a combustible heat capacity of 63 MW each and an annually coal throughput of approximately 35,000 tons which are delivered by ship and railway.
Waste-to-Energy Plant (= Waste Incineration Plant):
- 3 waste-fired steam boilers (each generating 25 t of steam per hour at 65 bar and 435 ° C) with a combustible heat capacity of 20,8 MW each and an annually waste throughput of approximately 180.000 tons which are delivered exclusively by truck.
Ancillary facilities:
Peak Heat Plant North:
- 2 flame tube – steam boilers, for natural gas and fuel oil with a combustible heat capacity of 21,2 MW and 49,5 MW for a total of up to 100 t of steam per hour with 190 ° C and 5 bar (for district heating only).
Diesel Engines:
- 2 Diesel engines (fuel power: 11 MW each) (for electrical power only); also used for emergency power generation.
Steam Turbines:
- 1 back-pressure steam turbine with an electrical power of 12 MW and
- 1 extraction steam turbine with an electrical power of 17 MW
District Heating Net with Steam Injection at about 5 bar and 190 °C:
- back-pressure by back-pressure steam turbines
- extraction from extraction steam turbine
- by-pass station
Peak Heat Plant South:
- Delivery stations to our customers and distributors
